Interview with Patrik Olsson, CEO of Elpress, Official Partner of Unga Bünsow
What made you want to become an Official Partner of Unga Bünsow?
After our participation at Unga Bünsow last year, we saw great value in meeting and interacting with students who have a focus that is relevant to an international company like Elpress. We sell the majority of our products outside Sweden and have local companies in the US, China, Germany, Denmark and Norway, as well as employees on site in other countries.
For us, it is crucial to attract the skills of the future in order to grow and develop in line with our strategy to double the business by 2029. By becoming an Official Partner, we will have an even better platform for connecting with students, creating long-term relationships and showing what opportunities are available with us.
What qualities and skills are you looking for in future employees, and what is the pathway for young talent to join you?
We are looking for people who combine technical understanding with a business mindset. As we are a global player, an international outlook and a willingness to develop in a dynamic environment are also important. The competencies we value highly are:
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Understanding of technology and industrial processes
- Collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and drive projects forward
The way into Elpress is often through a thesis, internship or a first role in marketing, sales, operations or product management. We always ensure that our new employees receive a genuine introduction, which often begins with a period in our production. This gives them a deeper understanding of our products, processes and company culture. We also put a lot of emphasis on teamwork and the ability to not only understand what needs to be done – but also to make things happen.
Looking ahead, where do you see Elpress in ten years?
Our ambition is to double the business until 2029 and position Elpress as the leading player in electrical connections. This means that we will grow globally, further develop our products and strengthen our focus on innovation and sustainability.
At the same time, we want to be Sweden’s best workplace. For us, this is not just about having the best products, but also about building a corporate culture where our employees thrive, develop and feel that they make a difference. We want Elpress to be a workplace where both knowledge and heart play a crucial role.
What are you most looking forward to during this year’s Unga Bünsow?
We look forward to meeting enthusiastic and driven students who are curious about our business. Having the opportunity to inspire and at the same time be inspired by the next generation of engineers and economists is something we really value.
We also look forward to showing what Elpress can offer – both in terms of career opportunities and the culture we have built. Hopefully, this year’s Unga Bünsow will lead to even more exciting meetings and future collaborations, both in the form of thesis, internships and employment.
