Jakob Liedberg is CEO of the greentech company Cinis Fertilizer AB since 2021. The company has been listed on First North Growth Market since 2022, with a market capitalization of around SEK 3 billion. Jakob has an MSc in Chemical Engineering from Lund University and over 20 years of experience in international sales and exports to the chemical industry.
When Jakob was working in industrial sales, he was amazed at the amount of waste industries were emitting. With his background in the fertilizer industry, he knew that fertilizers bring huge benefits to agriculture and society, but also how unsustainable today’s food production is. He was convinced that there should be a way to eliminate fossil-based mineral fertilizers and thus reduce CO2 emissions from agriculture. By combining his experience in the process industry with his knowledge of the fertilizer industry, he saw a potential for cross-fertilization. A way to solve the waste issue and circularity for traditional industries while reducing CO2 emissions from agriculture.
Cinis Fertilizer is currently building its first plant in Köpmanholmen, just outside Örnsköldsvik. Future facilities are planned to be built in Skellefteå and Hopkinsville, USA.
