Interview with Anna Telberg, Head of HR at Uniper, which is a partner of both Bünsow Business Growth Forum and Young Bünsow.
You are a new partner to both Bünsow Business Growth Forum and Unga Bünsow. What was it that made you want to step in as a partner?
These are two important forums in Sundsvall with strong links to northern Sweden, students and young talent. For us, facing major generational shifts and exciting changes in the energy sector, it is a unique opportunity to meet the workforce of the future and show what career and development opportunities are available with us. By being a partner, we want to strengthen our presence, build relationships and attract the next generation of employees, while contributing to the development of the region’s skills supply and the green transition.
Uniper has a large footprint in Sweden through, among other things, hydropower along the Ljungan and Ångerman rivers. What do you think is most exciting right now in the energy sector and what do you think will characterize the future?
Hydropower has an exciting and interesting future ahead of it, as it is absolutely crucial for us to have a stable and competitive energy system while enabling the green transition. Important future issues include AI and digitalization, renewal and efficiency, and environmental adaptation. We would also like to mention Unipers’ major project in Östersund, which aims to reduce industry’s dependence on fossil fuels by developing e-methanol for shipping and the chemical industry!
You have also become a partner of Unga Bünsow. What skills are you looking for most in recruitment today, and how do you work long-term to be relevant to young professionals?
Today, we recruit a wide range of people – from civil engineers in various fields to operating engineers, project managers and economists. Our industry is undergoing an exciting journey of change and we are facing extensive generational changes in the coming years. This means that we need to both replace experienced employees and create completely new roles that meet future needs in the energy sector.
We work continuously to offer a workplace where you can be involved and contribute to something bigger. We are proud to have been named Sweden’s most attractive employer by the key figures institute for three years in a row, which is proof that we are doing the right things and have a strong offering. We also offer the opportunity to get involved in working groups that drive issues of gender equality and inclusion, health and well-being and biodiversity (as some examples). We believe in empowerment, enabling development and creating an inclusive culture where different perspectives and ideas are given space. We hope this will attract both young and experienced people.
If you meet Uniper during Young Bünsow, what do you hope students will take away from the meeting?
- Greater knowledge of what Uniper actually does and what opportunities we have (did you know, for example, that the head office of Vattenkraft is in Sundsvall with over 100 employees on site?)
- That the future of energy is bright: you can make a real difference and be part of the journey.
- Concrete contacts for the future!
