Åke Norling – Colonel and Chief of Staff at the Operations Command
Åke Norling is Chief of Staff of the Operations Command at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters. The Chief of Operations (Lieutenant General Carl-Johan Edström) is responsible, directly under the Commander-in-Chief, for the Swedish Armed Forces’ implementation and planning of operations and missions both nationally and internationally. Given the developments in the world around us in recent years and Sweden’s membership in NATO, the operational activities of the Swedish Armed Forces are under constant dynamic development. Åke has worked in the Swedish Armed Forces for more than 35 years. For the past 20 years, he has worked in various roles mainly with national operations and international operations. Before his current position as Chief of Staff, he worked as Chief of Planning at the Operations Command (Operations Staff) and before that as Chief of Staff at the then Army Tactical Staff.
