Maxida Märak has made a powerful entry into the public sphere and has quickly become a well-known name in both the music world and in the social debate. With her unique way of combining hip-hop, joik, and electronic beats, she has created a sound in which Sápmi is always present, something that few others have dared or succeeded in doing. By mixing hard rap verses with soft joik tones, she has created a whole new genre that has been both celebrated and recognized internationally.

It was almost ten years ago that Maxida made the decision to start producing her own music. At the time, she was already an established joik artist, but one night, after performing a protest song against the mining industry, she decided to go all in on her own hip-hop. With no previous experience in music production, she bought recording equipment and spent hours watching YouTube tutorials to learn everything from scratch. That drive, along with her talent, resulted in her being able to start producing music just the way she wanted it pretty quickly.

Although her lyrics often carry strong political messages, politics is not her main motivation. For Maxida, the music is always in focus, and on stage she is known for her strong presence and attitude. She dares to take centre stage and is not afraid to be too much – quite the opposite. Through her honesty and transparency, she wants to inspire others to dare to go their own way, regardless of background or upbringing. With her music and lyrics, Maxida wants to create understanding and give voice to those who are otherwise rarely heard.

Maxida has also participated in many prestigious contexts. She has given a summer talk on Sommar i P1 and performed in Globen, both during the Idrottsgalan and Hela Sverige skramlar.
