Göran Persson

Previous Prime Minister

In 1979, Göran Persson was elected to Parliament as speaker of the agriculture committee and a member of the economic committee. He has served as Minister for Schools and later Minister for Finance. From 1996 to 2006, he was the Prime Minister of Sweden.

After a political career, Göran Persson has served as chairman in a number of companies, such as Sveaskog, Scandinavian Biogas Fuels and LKAB. Göran Persson has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swedbank AB (publ) since June 2019.

Göran Persson has a unique and far-reaching experience in economics and international politics as well as an extensive network. He is highly respected for his knowledge of issues including European affairs, sustainable development and challenges to the welfare state. In addition to this, Göran has a large societal involvement.
