Carina Sammeli

Chairman of the municipal board, Luleå municipality

Carina Sammeli is the Chair of the Municipal Board of Luleå Municipality, in northern Sweden, since 2021. Luleå and the whole of Northern Sweden are today facing enormous opportunities and challenges, as the industry carries out a green transition in our region with major investments in the industry that create jobs for generations to come. Luleå cooperates with Sundsvall and the other major Norrland municipalities within the N6 cooperation to create sustainable growth in our municipalities.

Carina previously chaired a government committee on housing costs for people with disabilities. She is a trained economist and has previously worked at the Ministry of Finance as a political advisor, at the Swedish Transport Administration as a project manager for railway research, as a party ombudsman for the Social Democrats in Norrbotten and as chairman of the children and education committee in Luleå municipality.
