Pär Lärkeryd – CEO Honorary Doctor
Pär Lärkeryd is a civil engineer and honorary doctor at Luleå University of Technology. He has been active in several engineering companies and is currently CEO of Norra Skog and a member of the boards of Umeå University, Skogsindustrierna, Husum Pulp and Länsförsäkringar Västerbotten.
Norra Skog is a forest owners’ association with several industries and 27,000 members in northern Sweden. The forestry industry holds important keys to solving the climate issue. Quite naturally, therefore, many forces have strong opinions about how the forest can best contribute to the climate fight and the members of Norra Skog are at the center of this tug-of-war. Among other things, they are fighting for their forests to be seen as an important resource to replace fossil products instead of carbon stocks. A number of political initiatives from both the government and the EU are underway that will affect our Swedish forests.
