Opportunities and challenges for successful international trade in northern Sweden
Northern Sweden is undergoing extensive reindustrialisation, driven by major investments in prominent sectors such as green energy and technology. This development is opening up new business opportunities and attracting international players, strengthening Sweden’s position as a technologically advanced and business-friendly country.
In parallel, Sweden is navigating a changing security policy landscape, marked by its entry into NATO and the implementation of new laws such as the Foreign Direct Investment Act from December 2023. This law aims to enable the screening and, if necessary, restriction or prohibition of investments that may pose security risks. This is done with the aim of protecting national interests while promoting economic growth and technological development.

Per Altenberg
Per is a trade strategist at the Swedish National Board of Trade (Kommerskollegium), Sweden’s authority for foreign trade, the EU’s internal market and trade policy. Kommerskollegium’s goal is to improve the conditions for international trade.
Kristina Alvendal
Kristina is one of the government’s appointed industry coordinators with the task of leading a green acceleration office that will facilitate industry’s transition and major business investments. She has broad experience in urban planning and property development, both at strategic, concrete, and political levels. Previously, she worked in the City of Stockholm as Mayor of Urban Planning and Property.
Micael Säll Lindahl
Micael is regional police chief in Region North.
