Karin Bodin is the CEO of Polarbrödsgruppen and the fifth generation of the family business. In recent years, Karin and Polarbröd have received much attention after the company’s bakery in Älvsbyn burned to the ground in August 2020. The incident affected many people, far more than those most directly affected. With great courage, the morning after the fire, Karin made the decision to rebuild the bakery on the same site, which was crucial in instilling hope and confidence in employees, the local community, partners and consumers. Thanks to this determination, a new bakery was in place just over a year after the fire.
Over the years, Karin has received a number of awards for her leadership, commitment and dedication to sustainability, as well as her efforts after the fire. She is chair of the business network StegVis, which works strategically for full sustainability, and has board assignments for Di Luca & Di Luca and Sweden’s bakers and confectioners.
