Christian Danielsson has been Head of the European Commission Representation in Sweden since 2020.
In 1995, Christian joined the European Commission in Brussels as a member of Commissioner Anita Gradin’s cabinet. He has since held several posts in the Commission, including Deputy Head of Vice-President Verheugen’s Cabinet and Director of the Directorate-General for Enlargement. Between 2008-2010 he was Ambassador and Representative at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the European Union. He was then appointed Deputy Secretary-General of the European Commission. He was subsequently appointed Director-General of the Directorate-General for Enlargement and prior to his current position, he served as Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.
