Through the Unga Bünsow initiative, students at Mid Sweden University are given the opportunity to build valuable connections with the business community already during their studies. One of them is Atiyah, who is currently in her third year of the Master of Science programme in Industrial Engineering and Management.
Atiyah moved to Sundsvall when she began her studies and chose Mid Sweden University because the programme aligned with her interests and was located close to her hometown. She first came into contact with Unga Bünsow through the university, and her initial impression was clear:
– It is an inspiring meeting place where students have the opportunity to build networks and gain a natural entry into working life.
When Atiyah was informed that she had been awarded a mentorship through Unga Bünsow, it was both exciting and motivating. The mentorship became an opportunity for growth – not only professionally, but also personally.
The match with Elpress and mentor Monica Nygren sparked additional interest, particularly after Monica participated as a speaker in one of Unga Bünsow’s events. Their first meeting was characterised by an open dialogue where expectations, experiences and perspectives were shared.
For Atiyah, the mentorship has already provided new insights into working life, as well as a clearer understanding of what will be important going forward: being curious, daring to ask questions and taking personal initiative.

How did you come into contact with Unga Bünsow, and what was your first impression of the meeting place?
– I came into contact with Unga Bünsow through the university. My first impression was that it is an inspiring meeting place where students are given the opportunity to build strong networks and connect with the business community.
How did it feel when you found out that you had been awarded a mentorship through Unga Bünsow?
– It felt very exciting and motivating. I saw it as a great opportunity to receive guidance and to develop both professionally and personally.
What made you curious about the mentorship together with Elpress and Monica Nygren?
– I was inspired by her lecture within Unga Bünsow, where she shared her experiences and insights. That sparked my interest even further.
How would you describe your first meeting, and what did you take away from it?
– The first meeting was very pleasant. We got to know each other better and shared our expectations for the mentorship. Monica is very kind and inspiring. I gained a clearer picture of how working life functions and the importance of being curious, asking questions and taking initiative.
What would you say to other students who are considering getting involved in initiatives such as Unga Bünsow?
– I would highly recommend it. It is a great way to build networks, gain valuable insights from the business community and develop beyond your studies.
